Anyone have opinions on Telrad and Rigel Quick Finders on SCT
« on: December 04, 2019, 02:58:50 pm »
Hi

I have a 10" LX200 Classic with a finder.  A novice and have trouble finding alignment stars.  Trouble finding any star for that matter! I know the stars naked eye but under the 100X crosshairs, I'm lost a lot of the time.

Would a Telrad or a Rigel Quick Finder work as an aid?  Any member experience?

Hi Allen. I've never used either of these but in my opinion nothing beats an 8x50 right angle finderscope, properly aligned to the main telescope optics.

A Telrad is the best ever money you could spend. And I have had mine since 2000. In fact I have 2 Telrads and 4 bases so all my scopes can use it. They work great on an SCT as they fit nicely. They cost about $45.
