Sidewalk Astronomy - May 6, 2017
« on: April 23, 2017, 05:48:42 PM »
We are pleased to announce Sidewalk Astronomy for May.

Weather permitting, on Saturday, May 6, 2017 starting at sunset and continuing until 10:30 p.m., we will set up our high-quality telescopes for public viewing in the parking lot at the southeast corner of Sarasota's Celery Fields Park.

Home to the Sarasota Audubon Society, located at 6893 Palmer Boulevard, Sarasota, public parking will be available just west of the Nature Center building. The telescopes will be set up in the parking lot on the east side of the Nature Center. (There will be no telescopes set up at the top of the hill!).

Sunset on May 6th will be at 8:07 p.m.

Highlights of the evening include incredible close-up views of the gas giant planet Jupiter as well as the waxing gibbous Moon. A variety of other celestial objects will be viewed through the telescopes as they become visible throughout the night. Please note that this will be the final event of the season - - there will be no Sidewalk Astronomy in June, July, or August.

As always, the Sidewalk Astronomy event is FREE and open to all!

Hope to see you on May 6th!
