I am replacing both currently and have listed the scope separately. I am selling the Televue panoramic mount complete with the eyepiece caddy. Purchased new, these cost $815 plus.  I am willing to sell to members only for $400.  I will wait a week if anyone is interested and then post on Cloudy Nights for $500 if no one is.  Adding a Few photos but have others to provide if interested.

Equipment for Sale/Trade / Televue TV85 for sale… Sold
« on: August 17, 2021, 07:17:19 PM »
Hello to all my fellow LGDSO members.  Roughly one year ago, I bought what I thought would be the perfect small telescope, A used but excellent condition televue TV 85.  And at the time, I also got a TeleView tripod although since have added an IopTron altaz pro tripod(which is amazing).  Just recently, I got the option to purchase the one scope that I think is superior( at least in name) in terms of small but powerful refractors. So I am now selling my TeleView products:  For easy grouping I am selling the TV 85 complete with the carrying case, clamshell, everbright diagonal (2 inch 99% ) with 1.25 inch adaptor and including a TV 20mm plossl eyepiece and the TV sol-searcher.  Purchased new, these cost $2795 plus.  I am willing to sell to members only for $1700.  I will wait a week if anyone is interested and then post on Cloudy Nights for $1850 if no one is.  Adding a few photos but have others to provide if interested.

Thanks,
Andy Pyatt

Hi to all, I am making a change in equipment and selling my Meade LX90 8 inch SCT.  It is roughly 2.5 years old but has had limited use in the past year.  If you have seen me at Sidewalk Astronomy events, you have probably seen this.  This is the newer design with the ACF Advanced Coma Free glass. I have the original 1.25 inch diagonal but am including the 2 inch dielectric diagonal  (99% reflective) from GSO.  I am including an Astrozap dew shield.  I also have an equatorial wedge for it that I only used once AND have a Meade Eyepiece case with several Meade plossls to sweeten the deal.  I will put it on Cloudy nights in a few days but would like to make it easy and offer to someone in our group first.  Over $2000 in it and will sell to a member for $850.  Will likely put it on CN for $1K.  Call or message me if interested:  Andy:  941-320-4271.

The grassy field/parking area for the museu is the observing site.  Gets pretty dark there relative to being in town.

Thanks for the quick call on cancellation.

Equipment for Sale/Trade / Televue TV60 with 1.25 inch Everbrite Diagonal
« on: September 09, 2018, 12:07:27 PM »
Hi to all:  I am selling my Televue Tv60 on Cloudy Nights.  It includes the scope, the dielectric diagonal, a dovetail bar adaptor to mount scope on a larger mount, and an Olivion case that is not in great shape but has worked well for me on several trips.  I have all for sale on Cloudy nights for $600 but will sell to my LGDSO members/friends for $525.  Email me at thebaldbassguy@yahoo.com or call at 941-320-4271 with any questions.

Thanks,
Andy

I can tell my personal experience: a 3.5 inch inexpensive Mak on an inexpensive mount.   Cost was low and it whetted (?) my appetite.  I next went to a 4 inch manual refractor.  Much better views typically but still some difficulty navigating the sky.  However, it helped me learn the Sky in more detail.  Now I have an 8 inch SCT with Goto.   Much easier typically although setup is longer.  And of course, now I want much more aperture.  I recently recommended to a beginner to get a small refractor with shorter focal length to make it easier to find objects and with Goto to avoid frustration of hunting down what you are looking for.  I also told him to load Stellarium on his phone or get a star chart of some kind and actually study it a bit.  Lastly, make a plan before observing so you have found some targets before going out in the dark and just hunting without knowing what is available to see.  Although, if someone is doing that, binoculars are the best first choice; wide FOV and easy to scan the sky.  So, there is my 2 cents.

Nice photo Ed, I didn’t remember it being that clear at all.  BTW, nice capture of my “action” pose!
